alt

BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte – One Officer and 62 Enlisted Personnel of the 23rd Infantry (Masigasig) Battalion earned their new ranks after Governor Dale B. Corvera of Agusan del Norte officiated the Donning of Ranks on August 18, 2019 at Headquarters, 23IB, Jamboree Site, P-6, Brgy Alubihid, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The donning of ranks is a military tradition to recognize the soldiers for their efforts and contribution in accomplishing the unit’s mission. These also means that those who got promoted are given higher and bigger responsibilities. Those who promoted are expected to perform more.
Governor Corvera, in his message as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, congratulated the newly promoted personnel. He said, “I know that all of you are very happy today not only because of your promotion but because I know that your families are also happy with you. Being promoted is not only an increase in salary or increase in rank, but it is also an increase in your responsibility. While your responsibility increases, people are looking at you with high regards. They look at you as models and important people. But I have to tell you that it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice. I always feel comfortable with the military. I congratulate all of you. I know that you are here not only for the salary of being a soldier, but because of your love for your country. Public service is not necessarily a commitment but also a sacrifice.” Gov Corvera added.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Francisco L. Molina Jr, Commanding Officer, 23rd Infantry Battalion quoted that “People don’t get promoted for doing their jobs really well. They get promoted by demonstrating their potential to do more.” He said further that “… circumstances allow us and assist us in our journey in making our unit better than before. I am happy that with your promotion, we now have pool of responsible NCOs who will serve as the backbone of our unit towards the accomplishment of our mission. Secondly, now that you are promoted, there are corresponding responsibilities in every stripe on your rank. And I know that with the tradition of our unit being persevering (MASIGASIG), there will be no terrain that is difficult to climb, there will be no task that will be hard to accomplish because I know you belong to team MASIGASIG. Working together with perseverance we can accomplish more.” –LTC Molina added.
