altIn order to give importance to their culture and traditions as show of respect to the Indigenous Peoples / Indigenous Cultural Communities in the province, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan recently approved the Provincial Ordinance No. 520-2019 or “An Ordinance Declaring the 1st Week of October and Every Year Thereafter as Indigenous People's Week in the Province of Agusan del Norte.”
The said celebration shall provide different activities in line with the ICCs / IPs culture, traditions and customs.
The following significant activities are proposed to be conducted during the week-long celebration, to wit:

 1st day: Parade, with targeted 100 IPs / ICCs per LGU
2nd day: IP Forum with targeted 330 IPs and 30 representatives from concerned government agencies
3rd day: Delivery of Basic Services: Medical Mission in coordination with the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Local Government (DILG) and other concerned agencies and Kasalan ng Tribu

4th day: Community Immersion: Tree Planting
5th day: Community Immersion: Coastal Clean-up
The approval of the said ordinance was pushed through the efforts of honorable Datu Eddie S. Ampiyawan, Chairman of the Committee on Indigenous People's Concern.
